As the leaves change to their bright autumn reds and golds and begin to fall to the ground, we begin to slip into "winter mode" and prepare for the cold months ahead - we're dusting off our decorations, looking forward to seeing old and new friends during the upcoming holiday season, and hoping for a good winter with many days covered in beautiful blankets of snow.

Here in South Dakota, we celebrate Native American Day on Monday, October 8th. This change from the day widely known as Columbus Day to Native American Day took place in 1989 under the leadership of Governor George Mickelson.

To understand the significance of this change, Rose talks with a few members of the Prairie Edge/Sioux Trading Post team about what Native American Day means to them.
