Waniyetucokan Wi: Middle of Winter

November, 2011

Here, on the Northern Plains, the month of November is known as Waniyetucokan Wi in Lakota, which means Middle of Winter...but so far, Mother Nature has been good to us and kept the bitter cold, snowy days (that usually come with winter) at bay. This is a timely gift, as the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins!

Craft Sale: 20% off Needles

A necessity for beadwork, leather craft, shawls, or for making almost any type of craft for that matter, good needles are cherished supplies in any craftworkers toolkit. In honor if the busy craft-making months ahead, we are celebrating with a sale on these precious tools - now, until the end of November, needles are 20% off!

American Indian Heritage Month
November is also National American Indian Heritage Month, a time to celebrate, remember, and honor the many contributions and rich ancestry of the Native American culture. Since we are surrounded by these wonderful reminders everyday here in the store, we decided to share our resources and have compiled a list of ideas for everyone to join in celebrating this special month...

New Work in the Native Gallery
Our artists have also been busy working in their studios. This month, they've started bringing in pieces to get ready for the holiday demand and added some new treasures to our Native and Native-inspired art collection.

On Saturday, November 19, members of the Lakota Berenstain Bears Project will be making an appearance in our bookstore to celebrate the release of their Limited Edition DVD Set of Matho Waunsila Thiwahe and sign copies of this inspiring series!

Sticks Trunk Show

Sticks Furniture
Featuring vibrant colors, beautiful imagery, and whimsical designs, we recently introduced a line of Sticks Furniture to our Gallery...and by popular request, we are in the process of adding these unique, functional pieces to our website!

We're bringing a whole collection of gorgeous new items for this special event...and if you've been dreaming of that perfect, unique addition for your home, Sarah can also help you design your own custom piece.
