Botanicals & Herbs

Sage and sweetgrass, along with other dried herbs sacred to the Native American culture, have always played a significant role in native life and ceremony. For centuries, the Plains Indians have used herbs and plants for spiritual, as well as medicinal purposes.

Many of the herbal remedies used today come from the American Indians’ rich tradition of using the healing powers of nature. These herbs provided both spiritual and medicinal healing for the Plains Indians.

Also used for smudging, sage and sweetgrass are known for their ability to cleanse the body, an object, or a given area of negative influence.
